Easter Crafts Ideas

Easter is on the door-step… Do you need any Easter crafts ideas to decorate your home quickly?

My free Easter crafts ideas and projects are really practical, because they’re so simple and you don’t need any special accessories to make them.

You’ll only need some glue, paint, scissors, felt, papers and your two hands to make these simple Easter crafts projects.

Easter paper craft using egg-boxes

You might think how is it possible to make decoration using egg-boxes. It’s really simple and I think this is the most lovely Easter decoration on my site.

Take an hour or so, a paper egg-box, some felt, an egg boxes few other things and your creative two hands and create wonderful chickens!

The following two step-by-step guideline will explain you how to make them. Visit my site www.marcels-kid-crafts-com to see the pattern and the step-by-step pictures.

You’ll need:

* egg-box (for the body and the wings)

* all purpose adhesive

* scissors

* red felt (for the crests)

* yellow cardboard (for the beak)

* feather (for the tail)

* white paper (for the eyes)

* black marker

* pen

The steps:

Print and cut the patterns out.

Outline the patterns.

Cut out pieces. (The wings are made of the lid of the egg-box.)

Cut the middle part, the peaks of the box.

Cut the bottom of the peak round as shown.

First, glue the two red felt pieces about the middle of the peak.

Next, glue the beak as shown and hold it for a few minutes.

Then, glue the edge of the first wing on the back of the chicken.

Do the same with the second wing.

Glue the two white eyes and draw two dots with the black marker.

Next, is the feather.

Glue it on the back of the chicken between the wings.

Hold it for a few minutes.

Finally, glue the crest on the top of the chicken and hold it until it stands firmly.

Wait 5-10 minutes until everything completely dried.

Dont’t forget to have a look at the pictures!

Do you have to have a permit/liscense to sell baked goods at a craft fair?

I have some old recipee’s and new packaging ideas for some deserts that I’d like to start selling. I’m thinking of testing the idea at some craft fairs in my area (Alabama). Does anyone know if I would have to be liscensed with the health dept? I wasn’t sure if you had some type of grace period or quantity level before you were required to have a seperate kitchen etc. Thanks

You will need a business license witha tax ID # (a social security # works if you are self-employed) and a seller’s permit. You may also need a permit from your county health department – regulations on this vary by area so call them and check.

Last but not least, you’ll need to rent space from the organizers of the event – they will assign you a booth. Every fair is different – some provide tables/electrical power/etc. but many do not. Again, call and check with the event organizer.

oh- and a post note

i dont have anything worth selling, spent to much money raising my fletching and mage.
all i have right now is 796k
you cant buy coal for 30gp -.-

Well since you are obviously a member and I have never been a member it’s kind of hard for me to give you advice in some ways, but, I have been playing runescape for a couple years and I can mine runite ores and I can smith them and I do make a lot of gold pieces doing smithing (mostly off of selling addy & rune items) Since you can’t do that yet, I’d recommend buying iron ores (or mining them yourself if you really want to) but it’s rather easy to buy iron ores for less than 100 each (even on forums). Then buy (or mine) coal for 150 (low)-200 (high) each and smelt into steel bars. If you want to save on # of coal you use by half, use the blast furnace. You could also superheat them with nature runes but I’d not really recommend that for steel, I think it wastes too many too quickly. Anyways you could also just buy the steel bars for 500 (low)- 600 (high). I advise you to make cannon balls with the steel bars that you either buy or smelt. Cannons sell from 500k from others up to about 750k from the shop. 4 cannon balls are made per steel bar and each cannon ball sells from about 180-220 each sometimes up to 250 each. Anyways, I know several guys that use cannons to train range and slayer and they can use about 6000 cannon balls per hour each and they paid me 600+ each steel bar. I made 3mil profit by the time I was 42 smith by selling 5k steel bars. They got pretty good monster drops often and instead of buying all that stuff why don’t you try to earn some of it? I know that getting a dragon chain is pretty rare but you could try keep trying to get it from a drop. I know they had tons of dmeds in all their time trying to get a d chain. They also went out and fought against dragons and then crafted the hides and high alced em or sold sets to rangers. I am a bit jealous that members can actually make a profit off of low level smithing cannon balls because I’ve spent well over 60mil gp on getting my smithing level up into the 90’s, but now that I am in the 90’s (and now that I also got my mining up to be able to mine runite ores too), smithing rune stuff is very profitable. Those high level combat guys that I knew often had more than a dozen sets of rune armor from dragon/slayer drops and would trade some of it to me for my rune bars so that they could get rune kites made (as those weren’t dropped) then they would sell the full rune sets for 180-200k

Your fletching level is pretty high and I know that fletching can earn a lot of $ too as I have several member friends that are fletchers and they often try to buy my ores or bars so they can get more arrow tips. One of them is now 99 fletch though and is working on training her crafting level up. She makes power ammies for me out of the diamonds that I get and trades me addy arrows for the addy bars that I get so I can train my pure ranger. I have heard that with farming you can make over 200k hourly rather easily by buying seeds and selling certain stuff but I forgot the details and your farm level is really low anyways.

You’ll need about 20mil if you are going to buy d med, chain, legs, & sheild. As for the other stuff, check the forums and see if anyone selling cheap sale and then resell if for higher. I know lots of members that are into merchanting. You could go get clues and do them to get treasure trail stuff and sell that on busy nonmember servers or post of forums cause there are a lot of rich nonmembers that do read forums and buy stuff from them even though we can’t post… You could do some nature or law running, I hear they pay 10k+ per run. I usually pay 1k+ per run from fally or al karid furnace to the bank while helping me run ores, but it’s a shorter distance than rune running so it’s about the same $ earned I think.

Good luck, and Merry Christmas. I hope I’ll be leveling smith in next few hours of play. I’ve got about 2mil to spend today on ores & bars & coal. I spend about 4mil weekly on average lately on mostly ores and coal.

Making crafts can be a lot of fun. But there are some other areas that have to be covered if you plan on networking your item to people in your community. Explore your options when attempting to network. If you don’t know where to begin, try reading plenty of books on the subject or talk to friends who may know a bit more about the subject.

When starting out, create a mailer to be sent out to people in the community. This can consist of a flyer, short glossy magazine or news article. Whatever you feel is best. You can have them sent out as a free mailer, or you may want to go with an opt-in mailing. This is where your customers sign up for a free mailer about your item. This is the best way to avoid wasting paper and stamps. But you may ask, “How do I get the addresses?” There are several avenues you can take. 1) Anytime someone makes a purchase, ask if they would like to be added to the free mailer. If they’re impressed with your crafts, more than likely you’ll list will be pretty long, 2) when attending a local craft show, have a clip board with pen that people can sign up for. They may not buy something right then, but if they’re interested in your craft, they will sign up. Collect Name, address, city, state and zip code. You can even make room for an email address. On average, a mailer should be sent out twice a year. If you do send too much information, too often, it may end up in the trash.

Placing flyers around your community is also a good networking tool. Check with local businesses to see if it’s ok to post a flyer in the window. You might want to stick with businesses that sell craft supplies, clothing or anything that can be connected with your item. When creating your flyer, put lots of color to catch people’s attention. You can input pictures on the flyers as well as an average price.

Contact your Chambers of Commerce. They help promote businesses by having meetings and items displays. This is a good way to introduce your self to the community. You can also find out what’s happening in your community such as local craft show days and times.

Stop by your local consignment store or boutique. These are great ways to get your craft out there. Generally, they will receive a percentage of the sales. Of course, this will be discussed before hand. When approaching the business owner, dress professional. Bring a sample of your item in with a list of prices. Also expect to sell in large quantities and for a discounted price. Store owners generally don’t pay full price for bulk items. Come prepared to give a price to the owner, but make sure you’re making a profit from it as well. If the store owner isn’t sold on your product, ask if it would be ok to leave business card or flyers behind with a sample of your work. If potential buyers take an interest and ask about the craft enough times, the owner may see the want for it and will be contacting you.

If you’re not one to get out there and start marketing your item, you can even hire a sales representative. They generally collect a percentage of what they sell. They can do it the old fashion way and walk door to door telling people of your product or they can visit local businesses and display your product. Make sure they are educated on your item. People make ask questions to the sales representative and you don’t want them to reply with a blank stare.

Try your local church. Churches have many functions throughout the year. Some even hold small craft shows for the community. Word of mouth is also a great way to network in your church. Churches are small communities that once the word is out, it travels fast.

If you’re selling an item that is wearable, wear it! Things like hair bows should be displayed in your daughter’s hair. If they’re unique, people will begin asking about them. If your selling handmade clothes, try making a holiday pattern and wear them before the season starts and see how many people want to know where you got it.

Whatever route you take, get out there. Even avenues you wouldn’t think to explore, try it. You never know, you might just make a sale.

craft supplies toddlers

Once the days are shorter and colder, entertaining an active toddler can become really hard work. This is where your list of toddler winter craft ideas also becomes your life line and your sanity. As a parent there is one place you can never avoid – the kitchen, hence this is the best place to stick your list of toddler winter craft ideas.

You toddler winter craft ideas list needs to grow with your toddler – as he learns and progresses so will your list. You will also find out which crafts he/she enjoys most and be able to develop more of these. It is worth speaking to the other mothers who have been driven out of the parks by the rain and cold and suggest that they too have a toddler winter craft ideas list, this way you can all swap ideas and the list will extend fairly fast, with tried and tested ideas.

When you are developing projects for your toddler winter craft ideas list you need to choose projects which are suitable for your toddlers attention span – short. If an idea does not work do not write it off as a failure, simply pack it up for that day and try again another day, or discuss it with another mother who may have an idea how to adjust it to make it more successful.

A good starting point for toddler winter craft ideas is the simple paper plate. You can decorate it to make a picture; make a cut from the edge to the center and sticky tape it into a cone, decorate the outside and use it as a hat; make a cone out of it, decorate it and put pop corn in it; cut it in half, stick some pieces of ribbon hanging off the straight edge and make a jelly fish; cut it in half, remove two eyes, and a triangular shape so it fits over the nose and you have a mask. All simple and cheap toddler winter craft ideas from a plate – none of which require preparation and can be packed away quickly when they want to move onto something else.

If you have an older child as well you can probably get them working along the same lines as your toddler winter craft idea, for example the older sibling could help make the popcorn for to go in the cone; could paint a sea scene to put the jelly fish in … Once you get into the swing of it the possibilities are endless.

Remember, put a piece of paper on the kitchen wall titled Toddler Winter Craft Ideas and when you think of something just jot it down and it will be there next time you need to distract your toddler – never rely on your memory as the times when these ideas are most needed are probably the times when you are most stressed. You may also want to have a box in the kitchen where you can put useful supplies. It is probably best to keep this out of reach so that when you need it the stuff is still there, otherwise you may find your efforts unintentionally sabotaged by your toddlers exploring fingers!

craft ideas?

what are some good unique craft ideas that i can make that will sell for a decent amount of money

One of my hobbies is checking out the street and craft faires in my area. This year I am starting to see a new trend that is obviously making the vendors the big bucks judging by the attendees leaving with their merchandise. Doggie couteur is HOT. At the last faire in the winery, there were two vendors. One sold handmade “designer” doggie outter wear, everything from booties, to scarfs, to sweaters and coats, to halloween costumes that were handmade and very detailed. She also had beautiful doggie bedding, blankies and food dish placemats. The other was selling gourmet homemade organic doggie treats and toys of all sorts. Both booths had items above and beyond what you commonly see in the pet stores. The faire started at 8 AM, and both booths were nearly out of merchandise by 11 AM when I got there. Seems to me that the designer doggie merchandise is the next hot seller in the craft faire circuit.

If you are wanting to start a craft business, why not start with a DIY Christmas Craft Show?

If you have a passion for creating, and you have a houseful of products, this is one of the best times of year to make the leap from hobby to business.

The best place to have your Christmas Craft Show, is your own house. It doesn’t have to be huge, but you do need to do some prep work.

Start by clearing out the room you plan to have your craft show in. Get a couple of tubs, and start clearing away all your knick knacks, and pictures on the wall, and store them in another room. This is important, because you don’t want someone trying to buy your grandmother’s teapot! (Don’t laugh this happened!)

Once you have cleared away everything, give the room a good clean, and then start displaying your products, with description and price tags on. If you make Christmas ornaments, then setup up a tree, if you paint, set up some easels. If you quilt, then setup some quilting racks. This is where you can get creative. Also use your couches and chairs as displays, you don’t want customers sitting around and yakking. As nice as that is, your purpose is to get your craft business going!

Invite family and friends and neighbors. Make sure and put the time on your invite, and have a sign out front on the day, with balloons. Make sure and leave some room for parking. Move your own car to a neighbors.

Have some good quality apple cider on the stove on low, or in a crock pot, and some goodie trays. Have some Christmas music playing softly. All of this creates atmosphere, and will let your potential customers feel relaxed and not pushed as they would be at large Christmas Craft Shows.

Make sure you are armed with business cards, order forms, and a sign up clip board for an “online newsletter” Collecting email addresses from interested clients, is a good way to let them know of any new products you have created.

Have lots of change on hand, and make sure the rest of your house is closed off, so as not to have wandering neighbors going into other rooms. Keep your pets locked away for the afternoon as well.

You don’t need to have Christmas themed products, as people are also looking for original or unique gifts to give, not just to decorate for Christmas.

This is a great way to meet new people and potential customers. Dress nice, smile and enjoy your Christmas Craft Show

thanksgiving craft ideas young children

This year Presidents Day falls on February 16. Many schools use the time before Presidents Day to educate young children about presidents past and present and the workings of the United States Government. Patriotic crafts for children are a great way to teach them about the history of President’s Day . Make these great patriotic homemade crafts with your own child at home and spend time with them talking about what it means to be an American!

Patriotic Crafts for Children

George Washington Powdered Wig

Dress-up like the birthday boy himself – our very first president George Washington – with this fun and educational project.

Materials:

  • Approximately half a bag of cotton balls per wig
  • Paper painter’s cap
  • Black ribbon
  • White craft glue
  • Safety scissors

Steps:

  1. Give the painter’s hat a little more shape by stuffing some rags or towels inside it to make it stand as though it will when placed on your child’s head.
  2. Glue cotton balls directly to the hat as if they were the curls of a wig. Cover the entire hat.
  3. Cut enough of the ribbon to tie a small bow. Glue the bow to the cotton balls as if a ponytail that would hang over the nape of the neck.
  4. Let your child wear and feel like a true American patriot.

Obama Symbol Paper Plate

Help your child join in the excitement and celebration of our new President with this easy and cheap President’s Day craft idea.

Materials:

  • Paper Plate
  • A copy or pattern of the Obama “O” logo
  • Acrylic paint in red, white, and blue
  • paintbrush

Steps:

  1. Draw the Obama “o” pattern on the paper plate. The middle part of the plate should become the white of the O inside the outer ridge.
  2. Paint the top portion of the outer ridge blue and the horizontal stripes red and white like the American flag.
  3. Allow to dry completely. Have your child learn a few facts about President Obama. Discuss with them the historical importance of his election to office.

Presidents Day Facts:

Presidents Day, also known as Washington’s Birthday or Washington and Lincoln Day, is a United States Federal Holiday, celebrated the third Monday of February.

Presidents’ Day is also known as a day to celebrate General Washington’s creation of the first military badge of merit for the common soldier – the Purple Heart – which was revived on Washington’s 200th birthday in 1932. Many people honor US veterans over Washington’s birthday weekend.

In New Mexico, President’s Day, as a state government paid holiday, is observed on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Because Presidents Day is not the official name for the federal holiday, many spellings are accepted with no right or wrong. President’s Day, Presidents Day, and Presidents’ Day are all commonly used spellings of the holiday’s name.

Used Christmas Cards. I WANT THEM ! Any ideas on where I could put my name to get people to donate them to me?

I cover boxes with them, make disposable childrens books out of them, re-cut and make new Christmas cards. I just don’t know how to ask folks for them without sounding like a kook … ideas? any bright ideas as to where I could put my name out there to get them? This is legit. As fewer people send cards, it’s harder to get them. eBay sell vintage lots (which I love) but that is spendy. What I don’t use I pass on to teachers who use them for crafts in class.
I will use advice for next year also as I realize it may be a bit late for this year.

Put an ad on craigslist requesting old/used christmas cards.
You will get lots of responses.
I know it works because I have put an ad on craigslist and I got too many responses and now I have too many used christmas cards I can handle. I can donate alot of them to you for free. Just contact me on my nickname.
Do you accept religious christmas cards by the way?

craft ideas using recycled materials
Does anyone have any fun crafting ideas using recycled materials?

My girlfriend posted this blog today of some lingerie she crafted last night. http://craftingagreenworld.com/2008/05/16/diy-easy-eco-lingerie/ I think they are totally fun and hot and was wondering if anyone else had any fun ideas to share.

Well, this isn’t lingerie or anything, but it is recycled! Use broken crayons and decorate jars with them. Here’s the link for how to do it.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go back in time 100 years and visit a bustling little timber town, nestled in 87 acres of beautiful natural forest? If so, you will thoroughly enjoy a visit to a popular Port Macquarie destination called Timbertown Heritage Park, where visitors of all ages can enjoy its logging theme.

Know to many as the finest heritage park in all of Australia, Timbertown opened its gates for visitors in 1976. Since that time, there have been more than 2,000,000 people who have enjoyed the authentic surroundings and attractions that gave them the feeling they had stepped back into time. It is easy to imagine the strenuous effort put forth by the pioneer settlers to build a life for themselves. It’s also easy to imagine how they celebrated their achievements with good times. You can see all this and more when you step back into time at Timbertown!

What can you do on a day trip to Timbertown? It may be hard for you to make up your mind, as the park is set up like a town would have been during that era. There are so many different things to enjoy here that this experience will end up being a very special part of your Port Macquarie holiday.

Attractions include something to please every member of the family. Take a ride on the Timbertown Heritage Steam Railway, or watch as timber is cut by an actual steam sawmill, said to be the only one left in the area. Or, tour the entire town by taking a wagon ride around to see the sites, and enjoy the fun of being in a vehicle pulled by a Clydesdale horse! You’ll experience bullock teams hauling lumber and other goods, vintage tractors and trucks, historical displays, a wonderful antique and handmade furniture store, and a petting zoo with many farmyard animals.

Historical sights to see at Timbertown include the colonial-style houses that were popular in the 1800s, a school, church, pub, and stables typical of those found in small towns. The whole effect is beautifully authentic, as great care was take during construction to build everything just so.

There are ample shopping venues to be found at Timbertown Heritage Park. You’ll find unique merchandise such as jewellery, arts and crafts, and other memorabilia that is in keeping with the park’s theme. How about a demonstration of cross cut sawing, or a paddle boat ride? Whenever you get hungry, stop in at the Maul and Wedge restaurant for a great meal, which includes the kind of service you would expect from an eating establishment set amidst the charm of a past era. At the Lassiandra Tea Room, you can expect an atmosphere of genteel elegance while dining on your choice of a number of wonderful entrées.

An old-fashioned store by the name of Wallace’s can supply you with handmade candy and other confections, as well as ice cream. This is also the place to go for souvenirs of your visit. If chocolate is your thing, check out Vicker’s Fudge Factory for a real treat.

The Timbertown Winery Erwin Cellars allows visitors to the Park to observe how their delicious wine is made, enjoy wine tastings, and purchase some exceptional wines that are only available from the park.

Timbertown Heritage Park is open 364 days a year. It is closed only on Christmas Day. Operating hours are from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM, except on school holidays, when closing time is 4:30 PM.

craft ideas little girls

Little girl’s love to spend time in their bedrooms. It’s a place all of their own. Decorating your child’s bedroom can be both a fun and rewarding experience for both of you. Here are simple tips to get you started in the right direction:

First, the most important factor is to hear your child’s ideas; after all it is “her” room you are decorating! Have her sit down and make a list of her favorite things from toys to television programs. Parents can make a theme for the room together with your girl.

Here, people should know make use of what is already in place. You will be amazed at how you can turn items already in her bedroom into something new! If her dresser has an attached mirror, remove it from the dresser base and place a new mirror directly to the wall. Change dresser knobs and pulls. Paint bedroom doors for a new bold look. Purchase a cover for a quick bedding change.

Take the changing in account when decorating since your girls’interests will move according the seasons change. Also, ask yourself if she will still love the hand painted mural of the fairy’s garden a few months from now. Explore less permanent options such as wall stick ups, framed art, and accent rugs.

Spending time with your child decorating her room should be fun. Explore each other’s creative side by creating artwork, bulletin boards, and other decor crafts together. Throw a bedroom-makeover party for her and her friends. They can each make a decor item for the room.

These are just a few of the many tips and ideas to incorporate when beginning your decorating adventure. Good luck and have fun! You’ll be sure to come up with plenty of your own by project’s end. Enjoy yourself and enjoy your decoration with your girls together.

For some people, fishing is a pastime. For others among us, it is a serious sport. However you perceive it, fishing is enjoyable when you’ve got the proper accessories to use. Here is a list of some considerations to think over.

Often there is a nice spot to fish from the shore of a pond, lake, stream or river. Other times, you will need to consider what kind of transportation you will need to get over the water. The canoe is the oldest craft. It is the traditional vehicle of the American Indian and has great traditional value, but that does not mean it is the best kind of water transportation available. A canoe can be tippy at the best of times and especially hard to handle in the wind but paddling or drifting along makes it easy to approach good spots to fish undetected.

A small rowboat without a motor is considered the best kind of boat to use since you can stand up in it to cast. Although it is best to row to the spot where you intend to fish, a small trolling motor is handy for travelling some distances. Larger pleasure boats with outboards are also recommended, but a boat with high sides is best as big lakes and broad rivers are prone to winds that can whip up big waves.

You will also need to pick out some quality footwear. This becomes especially important if you are going to fish by the side of a lake. Hip boots are the most practical for this as they can be rolled down if you’re not wading. While hip boots can also be used for stream wading, chest or hip waders are traditionally best here. When choosing chest or hip-wader boots, select ones that have a loose fit. Having waders that are too tight could restrict leg motion and undue stress on the seams could leave you wet.

The proper jacket is also a necessity. Jackets come in two basic lengths: Long and short. The long style is designed for fishing from a boat or wading in shallow water. If you are planning to use chest waders, it is recommended you use a short jacket since the bottom of a long jacket would drag in the water. You should select a jacket with generous pockets for carrying lure boxes and other accessories. A hat with a visor is another good idea because you will have your eyes on the water and need some kind of shade.

The avid angler has three stashes of lure and tackle-box containers. The first stash is for the home stockpile, the second and larger one for the boat, and a third stash is for the car. That way, you will always be covered in the event of a loss or other mishap. It is a good idea to buy a large supply at the beginning of the season too so you will have lots on hand, especially if you like to fish at night. With the right fishing accessories and gear, you can turn your fishing experience into a better one. The last thing you want when the time for that perfect catch nears is to realize you are missing an important piece of equipment. Preparedness is among the most important aspects of fishing, so make sure that you have all of the gear you need to have the best experience of your life.

Christmas holidays offer people a time to share joy both inside the home and out. Sometimes we forget how fun it is to look at Christmas decorations. Being able to share this joy with others is a wonderful experience. Yet often Christmas decorations can take both time and money. Here are some very affordable ways to share this seasons spirit and stay within your budget.

Many people have more stress during the holiday season.. Preparing for the arrival of family and other out of town guests can take a toll on you. With so much to worry about, your Christmas decorations shouldn’t be one of them. There are several cost efficient ways to decorate the exterior of your home without spending a bundle.

Ask yourself this question. What will be my theme? If you chose a traditional theme there may be items around your house for you to use. Items such as ribbon, scissors, tape, garland, and other materials are usually scattered about in drawers, closets and cabinets.

Try to use nature to help you decorate whenever possible. You can find holly berries, pine cones, branches and mistletoe almost everywhere. These items are free, earth friendly and they are so much fun to work with.

* Make your own evergreen trim; this requires a little bit of patience and practice. It will still beat paying $20 or more to purchase a living garland from the store. Just consider yourself to be the “Martha Stewart of the Forest”.

Other items that you may need for your Christmas decorating projects can be found at your local dollar store. You can also check out discounters and garage sales for necessities such as construction paper, artificial flowers, glue, lights, wreaths, bows, markers, colored pencils, paint, paper plates, glue sticks, Christmas bulbs, glitter, and all sizes of Styrofoam balls.

Make decorating fun. Make kid friendly decorations that are both eye- catching and cost efficient. Invite all your family members to participate in this kid-friendly project. Here are some easy to make crafts the whole family can enjoy doing.

* Make some life size ornament cutouts from posterboard and use them to decorate your door or porch. You can trim these cutouts with material from the craft store.

* Decorating trees and bushes with bows is colorful and affordable. Having all bows be the same color is recommended. It gives the yard a more “pulled together” appearance.

* Create some ornaments with ribbon and pine cones to hang on tree branches. If you add peanut butter and bird seed to the pine cones the birds will appreciate it.

* You can make your own luminaries at home. All you need for ice luminaries are some empty quart size milk containers or some large buckets. You can even make Christmas luminaries from some plain tin cans.

Tin Can Luminaries

1. Use clean tin cans of different sizes for this project. Make sure the cut top is smooth and safe. Remove the labels from the cans and fill them with water.

2. Place them in the freezer. The frozen water in the cans will prevent them from denting or collapsing as you create Christmas designs on their surfaces.

3. When you have solid ice in your tin cans, you can safely make designs using nails and a hammer. For fancier designs, a hole punch works great.

4. Be creative with your design and make sure the light will be able to shine through.

5. Remove the ice, place votive candles inside the cans and decorate your front walk, yard or porch.

Here is another idea that can be used to decorate the exterior of your home for Christmas.

Decorative Door Greeting

Items needed:

Garland in the following colors: green, silver, gold, red

Ribbon (red, green, silver, gold)

Tape (or thumb tacks)

Scissors

Fun and festive wrapping paper (Christmas themed)

Construction paper

Color pencils (or markers)

Glitter

Trim a piece of colorful wrapping paper so that it will fit the length of your front door.

Attach the wrapping paper to your door with either invisible tape (so there won’t be glue marks when you remove it) or thumb tacks.

Next you will need to cut two pieces of red and silver garland the width of the door.

Twist the garland together.

Cut ¾ inch green ribbon and tie the ends of the garland.

Cut two pieces of green and gold garland together. Cut ¾ inch silver ribbon and tie both ends of the garland.

Use a hook, thumb tacks or a small nail to mount the garland on your door.

Cut four pieces of garland, (your choice of colors) the height of the door.

Twist the first two pieces of the garland together.

Now you can twist the next two pieces of garland together.

Use thumb tacks to secure the garland in place on the door.

Making a Greeting Card for the Door

Fold the construction paper in half.

* Write a holiday greeting to people coming to your door on this card. Brightly colored markers or pencils work well for this.

* Using a brightly colored pen or a glitter pen to trace your greeting adds nice touch.

* Once you have finished the card, place it at the center of the door.

* For a different style, cover your door with cards. The cards can all be filled in – or you can include a pen so people can add their own message.

Learning how to decorate the exterior of your home for Christmas does not mean that you have to spend a lot of money. This should be a fun project that lets you add your personal style statement to the season’s festivities.

crafts at home ideas

Work at home ideas vary from the small to the very large and all are of great interest right now. In recent times countless people have lost their jobs right around the world and with so many newly unemployed seeking the same remaining jobs, it is getting tougher to find replacement jobs. Real job security seems a thing of the past regardless whether we are junior or senior employees in almost every industry.

So what can we do to give ourselves a little security or to provide a little extra money on top of our salaries? The answer for many may be in home business. There are so many work at home ideas that can nicely top up our employment salaries or provide a part time income. Ideas that can be turned to full time work at home businesses if needed.

So what sort of small business ideas are right for the home? There is a large range of business ideas to suit any individual. We should recognize the difference between work from home businesses and work at home businesses. A self employed gardener who tends local gardens might be home based in that he has no commercial office premises and works primarily in other locations but can be contacted at home. He may do his accounts work and so on there too but his effort is largely conducted elsewhere. A work at home business however might be entirely undertaken by somebody actually in their own home in say a home office setting, indeed they may even be limited to the home as might say the mother of a newborn child.

Work at home ideas sometimes arise out of hobbies and pastimes like arts and crafts but can of course just as easily be everyday business tasks like say typing and appointment setting that can be carried out from anywhere. Sporting interests can also lead to small businesses as for example in the case of some sporting memorabilia dealers who trade in game day programs and souvenir sports equipment.

Some folk make excellent money from activities like leather craft work and painting. This can be through selling the finished pieces at markets and specialist stores or by teaching others. Hobby websites are also a great way to make money while writing about your hobbies. These specialist websites can be very simple yet very lucrative. Once you have some visitors to your website you can show ads from related merchants and earn affiliate commissions or other payments on the sales you introduce.

For those who like to sell face to face and who are not limited to the home there are any number of direct sales programs like the Amway type programs which pay good commissions on sales you make to friends and neighbors.

Whether you are the outgoing type or shy retiring type there are many work at home ideas to suit you. Check out websites like workathomefiles.com for lots of ideas and more information. Start a home business and give yourself a little security.

There are a huge variety of crafts that you can do with your children to let your Christmas spirit shine. They can be given to others or used to decorate the house. Start after Thanksgiving to allow plenty of crafting time, and to give yourself time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Cards.
One great thing you can have your children make to give to others is Christmas cards. These special cards can then be given to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other friends and family members. Depending on the age of your child you can get more and more complicated for loads of fun.

1. Start with some construction paper.
2. Give them crayons and or markers to draw with.
3. Add some pretty holiday cutouts or stickers.
4. Glitter glue can top it all off with some special fun.
5. If your child is too young to write a message, you should add it for them. If they are old enough to write out a message have them practice and write out a special message to complete the card.
6. Help them to mail the items for even more fun.

Reindeer Ornaments.
You can help your child make reindeer ornaments from their hands and feet prints. These are excellent to do a few years in a row and to keep to show the growth of the child.

1. Start by helping your child trace their hands and one of their feet onto construction paper. The hand prints will become the antlers-the foot print will be the face.
2. Cut out the shapes and glue them to a piece of paper, creating a reindeer face.
3. Allow them to decorate the reindeer with googly eyes, a pom-pom nose, a mouth, and ears.
4. Make sure you write down the date and age on the back.
5. You can add a ribbon and bells if you have them on hand to further personalize your reindeer.

Glitter Window Stickers.
Glitter window stickers are easy to do and can be done in all sorts of shapes. Use inexpensive white glue to make these simple sparklers.

This one will need to be set up. You want to firmly tape a piece of plastic wrap to a piece of cardboard. Make sure it is completely smooth.
1. For younger children use white glue to draw the outline of a star. Allow them to use the glue to fill in the star.
2. Then sprinkle the glue with glitter.
3. Let it dry for 48 hours. Then carefully peel the dried shape from the plastic wrap. The glue shapes will stick to the window and remove easily after the holiday.
4. Older children can make more complicated designs. You can also glue small sections of the sticker, glitter it, and then let it dry to the touch so you can make different colors. This is great for bells and other ornament shapes.

These are just three of the crafts that you and your kids can enjoy at Christmas time. You can make items to decorate your own home, to decorate gifts, or to give away.
