craft ideas apples

I need an idea for tying Caramel Apples into a lesson about God/Jesus. Any ideas?

I have a girls club. I am having them dip make caramel apples for their snack/craft today. Any ideas on how to incorporate this into a lesson about Jesus/God.
Our verse today is
If the LORD delights in a man’s way,
he makes his steps firm;
though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

The apple represents us. The carmel represents God’s word. When we read the Bible we are like a carmel apple rapped in the sheild of God’s word. Hope this helps.
