Looking for craft project for a girl in her early 20s?
I love crafts but all the new craft ideas I find are for children or needle work. I found this great idea for marble magnets last winter at NotMartha.org (the best craft site). And now I want to find something similar to do for the fall. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I like making holiday ornaments as gifts (saves $$$!). Or you could try mosaicing a small table with broken plates and such. I also like doing Mod Podge, yes, kids can do it, but adults can do it too. You might just want to go into a Hobby Lobby or a Michael’s Crafts and see what inspires you. I’ve always wanted to try stained glass!
Easy Arts & Crafts Projects – How to draw a pumpkin (drawing basics for small children)
Wonderful And Extensive Number Of Woodworking Supply
Woodworking and related tools become so prominent that there are numerous companies that manufacture these tools and thousands of places to buy them.
When it comes to woodworking, the human race is quite progressive. There are general tools that work well in many situations, and there are specialty tools created for one certain purpose. There are tools that need only manpower and a basic knowledge, and others that operate computer programs, a wide range of knowledge, and a powerful motor. We have even understood how to control power for our tools and package it in a small battery component, providing us the liberty of taking our tools wherever we need them.
It is truly wonderful to imagine the extensive number of wood working supplies and all that woodworkers are knowledgeable of doing and creating with the help of these tools. In addition, many people working with tools are one of the excitements, or even passion of woodworking.
Woodworking and related tools become so prominent that there are numerous companies that produced these tools and thousands of places to buy them. Many experts focus on the basics to improve an overview of those tools needed to get a nice start in woodworking.
Basically, a woodworker needs four kinds of tools. First, they need a place to work, supplies for cutting and shaping, supplies for assembly, and finishing equipment. Knowing a specific task for your woodworking plan will help you determine which woodworking supplies suits for you. Secondly, it is also important to keep the Philosophy of knowing the basic tools and not to invest large sum of money until you are sure that you have an ongoing interest in woodworking. It is better to have hand tools wit basic power tools thrown in. These tools should guide you for a variety of beginner projects and provide you a reliable basis of equipment and knowledge to build upon.
There are list of woodworking tools for a variety of woodworking projects. For an example, there are many tools used to shape wood, far from those that smooth them to those that take pieces away to create lines, holes, and other features.
Another example of woodworking tools that you can consider to be a part of your woodworking supply is the planes. As contrasting to a saw, or even a knife, planes cut wood away in small, uniform, which facilitate to make a smooth surface. There are many various types of hand planes. More frequently used planes are referred to as bench planes and include the scrub plane, the smoothing plane, the jackplane and the trying plane. Some planes equipped with more than one blade or can be adjusted for several types of cuts. Some are used only for specific purposes. Consider that some planes can be nearly as costly as a router to purchase, so if you decide to do a variety of specialty cuts, planes may not be the inexpensive solution. A contemporary planer can cost anywhere from $20 for a basic, amateur model to over $100 for better specialty or combination types.
A chisel and gouges can also be included in your box of woodworking supply for future project. These tools are used to remove sections or pieces of wood to achieve a specific shape. They commonly contain a blade with a cutting edge attached to a wooden handle. The major distinction between the two is the shape of the cutting edge. A gouge has a curve edge while a chisel has exact marks, beveled edge that makes straight marks. There are variety of dimensions and kinds of chisels and gouges, including those designed especially for woodcarving.

Does anyone know of a source or sources of closeout/deep-discounted arts and crafts supplies?
Please don’t say E-bay, because most of it is retail or almost retail price – often above retail, especially with some people’s inflated “postage and handling” fees.
I am looking for a source of art supplies that lists items from 60-90% off retail either through a catalog or online.

Practically all children and probably most adults find the subject of dinosaurs fascinating and intriguing. Learning about dinosaurs stretches our imaginations and allows us to experience a world very different from our own today. It seems the more we learn about these awesome creatures, the more we want to learn. Learn more about these prehistoric creatures who lived on Earth for 165 million years, travel back in with these dinosaur inspired crafts, activities, games, and other resources.
Dinosaur Egg In a shallow bowl mix some flour and water until you get a runny paste. Tear some newspaper into small strips. Place an inflated balloon on top of a cup or a small container so that it doesn’t tip over. Dip and soak newspaper strips in the paste and remove excess paste. Place strips on the balloon. Overlap strips until the whole balloon is completely covered. Apply three of four layers and let dry. When strips are completely dry, let your child paint the egg.
Dinosaur Bones Spray paint a number of small dog bones white. Place them in a shallow rectangular baking dish and cover with sand or clean dirt. Tell your child to pretend that he/she is a paleontologist and that he/she will be digging for dinosaur fossils. Because dinosaurs are now extinct, he/she must examine and study these fossils to understand the history of this fascinating group of animals. Explain that the bones and the ground around the dinosaurs let us know when the dinosaurs died and what the climate was like when they lived. Just digging up the fossils could take years! Provide children with digging tools such as small toy shovels, paintbrushes, sticks, etc.
Dinosaur Activity Make two identical sets of dinosaur pictures. (You can find great dinosaur templates on our site or in coloring books.) Place the pictures face down on a table or on the floor and mix them up. Have your child turn over a picture. Then have him/her turn over another picture to try to find its match. If the two pictures don’t match, have your child turn the pictures over and try again. Play until all the pictures are matched.Â
Fossil Dinosaur Craft Have children make imprints in playdough using pennies or leaves. Explain how this is very similar to how dinosaur fossils were made. Bones made imprints in the mud. This mud hardened and became a rock or stone. When this rock or stone is broken the imprint is still in place. Explain that we can learn about dinosaurs through fossils.
Dino, Dino, Who Has Your Bone? Have your child close his/her eyes. Hide the dino bone. (A dog’s chew toy bone makes a good dino bone.) Say, “Dino, Dino, who has your bone, somebody stole it from your home. Guess who!†Have your child try to find the bone.
Dinosaur Salad Explain that many dinosaurs were plant eaters. Discuss with your child that fruits and vegetables are parts of plants. Provide a variety of fruits and vegetables. Peel and slice the fruits/vegetables and place in a bowl. Mix together. Serve on a paper plate. Ask your child to eat his/her fruit or vegetable salad just as dinosaurs might have—without hands. Some suggested fruits and vegetables: bananas, apples, grapes, oranges, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries, lettuce, carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower.
Dinosaur Dancing Discuss different ways the dinosaurs moved. Walk slowly like a Triceratops, run fast like a Compsognathus, etc. Play some instrumental music and let your child move or dance around like a dinosaur.
You are a Hobbyist and find crafts very fulfilling. However, engaging in arts is also expensive. What to do then? Where to go for cheap art and craft supplies? May be somewhere mentioned in the following list!
Local Library: For old, colorful magazines and books that can be used in collage, mixed media and altered art.
Recycle Groups: Join the groups in your area on some recycle websites. You might get a bag of fabric scraps or some old leather item for your next project.
Online Communities for Classifieds: Check the network of online communities, featuring free online classified advertisements. You might get something at lower prices.
Thrift and Resell Stores: Most of them have a section of art and craft supplies. Otherwise too, you might find other items that you can turn into craft supplies especially when you need fabric or books.
Family, Friends, and Neighbors: Check with them. Exchange items among yourselves. What is a waste for them, might be useful for you and vice versa.
Local Shops and Decorators: Upholstery, furniture shops and decorators might be willing to sell their scrap to you at very low prices. Don’t hesitate to ask them though politely. Grocery shops can also give you wooden crates etc.
Local Dollar Store: Not all will be quality material but it’s a good location to look at and stock up on some basics like paint brushes and storage containers.
Children’s Discarded Stationary: Look into the discarded stationary items, pencil boxes, bags etc. of you own or relatives, friend’s children. You might find craft paper, crayons, paints etc. from there.
Discount Websites: There are many discount websites. Check them, see what online bargains can you get. You might find promotional codes and free shipping offers, saving yourself a lots of money.

With Christmas only a month away now is the time to start making your crepe paper Christmas Cards. Many people think that crepe paper is only used for flowers. When in fact the paper can be used to make several things. The colorful assortment of crepe paper will allow you to make nearly any type Christmas card you can think of.
In this article I’ll provide you with a few wonderful crepe paper Christmas card ideas you can make. The items you will need include; crepe paper, shears, ribbon, clear drying glue and a ruler. For each project you will need a few additional items as well that you may already have or can pick up at a craft store.
Christmas cards – To make a crepe paper Christmas card you will need all of the supplies listed above and a few additional ones; cardstock, old Christmas cards with pictures on them, green and red glitter and green, red, silver or gold curling ribbon. To assemble the card use your ruler to measure the cardstock to the size you want, you can have a single card or a double card (one that folds in half.)
Cover the cardstock in crepe paper using the clear drying glue to attach it. If you want to write a personal message be sure to leave a small section of the card free of the crepe paper. Next cut out a design from an old Christmas card and glue it to the front of the crepe paper covered card stock. You can add a little glitter or a small ribbon bow if you like or anything else you can think of.
Some people also chose to substitute the “old Christmas card” picture with a family picture or a picture of their child or children or a hand colored picture by a child. The last idea is nice for grandparents and family members who do not get to see the child very often. You can also enclose an updated picture or even two of the child.
You can also make a Christmas card in the shape of a holiday symbol such as; a wreath, Santa Clause, Christmas tree, star, gingerbread boy or girl, candy cane, snowman, or any other item you associate with Christmas. All you need is a large metal cookie cutter or a paper pattern. Using the cardstock cut out the shape and cover the front of it with the crepe paper. You can decorate it any way you like. You may want to give a snowman, gingerbread boy or girl wiggly eyes or make tiny little balls out of the paper for the Christmas tree to represent bulbs, a wreath can be decorate with different colors of glitter. Use the back to write a personal little note or attach a photo.
Crepe paper Christmas cards are so easy to make and the recipients will adore them. Don’t forget to add a little bow made from curly ribbon. These cards can also be made in a miniature form and used as gift tags!

Do you have to have a permit/liscense to sell baked goods at a craft fair?
I have some old recipee’s and new packaging ideas for some deserts that I’d like to start selling. I’m thinking of testing the idea at some craft fairs in my area (Alabama). Does anyone know if I would have to be liscensed with the health dept? I wasn’t sure if you had some type of grace period or quantity level before you were required to have a seperate kitchen etc. Thanks
You will need a business license witha tax ID # (a social security # works if you are self-employed) and a seller’s permit. You may also need a permit from your county health department – regulations on this vary by area so call them and check.
Last but not least, you’ll need to rent space from the organizers of the event – they will assign you a booth. Every fair is different – some provide tables/electrical power/etc. but many do not. Again, call and check with the event organizer.

you cant buy coal for 30gp -.-
Well since you are obviously a member and I have never been a member it’s kind of hard for me to give you advice in some ways, but, I have been playing runescape for a couple years and I can mine runite ores and I can smith them and I do make a lot of gold pieces doing smithing (mostly off of selling addy & rune items) Since you can’t do that yet, I’d recommend buying iron ores (or mining them yourself if you really want to) but it’s rather easy to buy iron ores for less than 100 each (even on forums). Then buy (or mine) coal for 150 (low)-200 (high) each and smelt into steel bars. If you want to save on # of coal you use by half, use the blast furnace. You could also superheat them with nature runes but I’d not really recommend that for steel, I think it wastes too many too quickly. Anyways you could also just buy the steel bars for 500 (low)- 600 (high). I advise you to make cannon balls with the steel bars that you either buy or smelt. Cannons sell from 500k from others up to about 750k from the shop. 4 cannon balls are made per steel bar and each cannon ball sells from about 180-220 each sometimes up to 250 each. Anyways, I know several guys that use cannons to train range and slayer and they can use about 6000 cannon balls per hour each and they paid me 600+ each steel bar. I made 3mil profit by the time I was 42 smith by selling 5k steel bars. They got pretty good monster drops often and instead of buying all that stuff why don’t you try to earn some of it? I know that getting a dragon chain is pretty rare but you could try keep trying to get it from a drop. I know they had tons of dmeds in all their time trying to get a d chain. They also went out and fought against dragons and then crafted the hides and high alced em or sold sets to rangers. I am a bit jealous that members can actually make a profit off of low level smithing cannon balls because I’ve spent well over 60mil gp on getting my smithing level up into the 90’s, but now that I am in the 90’s (and now that I also got my mining up to be able to mine runite ores too), smithing rune stuff is very profitable. Those high level combat guys that I knew often had more than a dozen sets of rune armor from dragon/slayer drops and would trade some of it to me for my rune bars so that they could get rune kites made (as those weren’t dropped) then they would sell the full rune sets for 180-200k
Your fletching level is pretty high and I know that fletching can earn a lot of $ too as I have several member friends that are fletchers and they often try to buy my ores or bars so they can get more arrow tips. One of them is now 99 fletch though and is working on training her crafting level up. She makes power ammies for me out of the diamonds that I get and trades me addy arrows for the addy bars that I get so I can train my pure ranger. I have heard that with farming you can make over 200k hourly rather easily by buying seeds and selling certain stuff but I forgot the details and your farm level is really low anyways.
You’ll need about 20mil if you are going to buy d med, chain, legs, & sheild. As for the other stuff, check the forums and see if anyone selling cheap sale and then resell if for higher. I know lots of members that are into merchanting. You could go get clues and do them to get treasure trail stuff and sell that on busy nonmember servers or post of forums cause there are a lot of rich nonmembers that do read forums and buy stuff from them even though we can’t post… You could do some nature or law running, I hear they pay 10k+ per run. I usually pay 1k+ per run from fally or al karid furnace to the bank while helping me run ores, but it’s a shorter distance than rune running so it’s about the same $ earned I think.
Good luck, and Merry Christmas. I hope I’ll be leveling smith in next few hours of play. I’ve got about 2mil to spend today on ores & bars & coal. I spend about 4mil weekly on average lately on mostly ores and coal.
